You can speak english if you like, most people here understand.
Nice and very original bicycle, though a bit rusty.
May have been taken from Indonesia after the war to Australia by Dutch people?
What are your questions?

Re: hallo uit Brisbane, Australie
thankyou. this is much easier.
I have a few questions for now.
firstly, the wheels on this cycle are mismatched. the front one is 28x 1 3/8" tyre, with 32 spokes. the rear is 28 x 1 1/2 " tire, with 36 spokes. is this correct?
the rear one has a coaster brake, but the cycle has 2 brake levers on the handlebars. I wonder if this should have a drum brake at the rear? Maybe it should have a three speed hub too?
secondly, it is fitted with a lock mechanism on the rear wheel.

does any one know who made this? or how it operates?
thirdly, were these all painted Black? or was there a variation?
fourthly, the saddle is missing its covering. would someone have a picture of how it should look?
and lastly, for now, the head badge is missing. I see reproductions made in asia for sale, and wonder if there is a source for the correct one, or even a picture of the correct one I could use as a reference?
thanks in advance,
EMMA

look here:

It is 1950's which makes it in 1 detail different from 1930's: the spoke pattern of the wheel. If you are a purist, like me, you would look for the older version.
But these would do, they are copper, and are easily available here in NL.
I guess your cycle was fitted with Gazelle rim brakes and 28 - 1,5 rims, chromed. Sturmey Archer K 3 speed hub was an option.
Look at pictures of 1920's / early 1930's Gazelles, they have these brakes. Very rare, I 'm afraid.

Re: hallo uit Brisbane, Australie
I wonder what the differences are between a number 7 and a number 8 cycle? is there some type of list of 1930's gazelle bicycles somewhere?

Re: hallo uit Brisbane, Australie
Hallo Emma,
The Gazelle no 7 was more expensive and disappeared in the early 30's out of the collection.
Regards,
Edmond
