Many thanks! I will post some detail pictures, with any luck. I just read the "how to" forum so lets try! first is a picture of the press in bracket, like Maarten describes for the "P" then the axle with threads on. next is the headset bearings. also the saddle and the pedals.

another question...

please guys. can you help? is there a part missing here? maybe a threaded nut? the levers are threaded inside, and the small ball is threaded outside. shouldn't they turn together? can someone please post a nice clear photo? these levers are on the handle bar brake levers.

thanks for your patience..

I leave the reaction to Maarten Waarle, he has a Gezelle with the same braking system, but a nr 7. He can compare.

Indeed they are Gazelle one`s.
At this moment it is to dark outside for a good photo but I can make one tomorrow.
The missing one is the same as the other mounted on the short front brake lever.
There is a screw cap on top very well shaped.

I understood the whole rear brake mechanism is missing on your Gazelle?

To find (ore let some one find it for you over here)is difficult.
On the other hand a resonable copy can be made. The parts do not differ to much from the standard rim brake I would think.

The round thing on top of the rear breake mechanism is the same like on the drum brake operated Gazelle`s (with one long brake lever from left to right) till the end of the 40`s.

The pedals you have showed us are factory right. They seem to be the Invicta ones. In 1931 the more luxe Gazelle pedals the middle section was made of one piece wich is slightly better.

The lugage carrier on your bike is a real Gazelle one.together with the clock lock very nice whole.

Many thanks for so much helpful information.
I hope a very good reproduction can be made of the rear brake parts. I would like to gather as many pictures and measurements of the original before I start though! if you could find time to take pictures of your bike, then I would appreciate it very much!
I am also attaching a photograph of what I believe to be the mounting hole for the lever at the base of the headset, it is quite small and only on one side. am I correct in guessing its function?

Hi Emma,

It looks you've got the same quest as i do. I asked the same question a year ago.
And it's indeed a hole for the lever but it's only there for a little pin that goes inside so the lever can't twist. This is what Maarten W. told me.
Those parts are hard to find and i bought some which were sold as genuine Gazelle parts but they didn't fit.

Hi Emma and Ed,

I made some photo`s and did some drawing to make it more easy to copy the front hinge.

Indeed the litle hole is for a pin that is on the inside of the hinge clamp as the photo`s show.

I have looked for parts that I still had in my collection of left over parts and that eventualy can be usefull when you have to start with nothing.

Together with the photo`s from my Gazelle no 7 it must be possible to identify the parts.

Best Regards,
Maarten
